“The Boss Baby: Family Business” landed in theaters and on Peacock on Friday, right on in time for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Alec Baldwin returns for the sequel to DreamWorks Animation’s Oscar-nominated comedy featuring an all-star cast that includes James Marsden, Eva Longoria, Amy Sedaris, Ariana Greenblatt, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Kudrow, and Jeff Goldblum. In the movie, brothers Ted (Baldwin) and Tim (Marsden) are all grown up and living separate lives. Ted, former leader of BabyCorp, is a hedge fund CEO. Tim, also married with two kids, works as a stay-at-home dad. The pair have drifted apart over the years, but a magical potion turns them back into babies for a short time, setting the distant brothers on a mission that brings them back together. “The Boss Baby: Family Business” is available for Peacock Premium subscribers at no extra charge. The second-installment to “The Boss Baby” franchise hopes to build on the success of its predecessor, which brought in over $500 million at the box office. Many of the cast and crew members from the previous movie returned for the sequel, including director Tim McGrath, and composers Hans Zimmer and Steve Mazzaro. “The Boss Baby: Family Business” was written by Marla Frazee and Michael McCullers, and produced by Jeff Herman.
The animated film was originally slated for a September debut but the release date was pushed up to offer audiences a kid-friendly movie that the whole family can enjoy. “Families are at the heart of our decision to make ‘The Boss Baby: Family Business’ available to everyone this July Fourth weekend, and to give those families the freedom to choose whether to see this joyful, hilarious, and heartfelt film from a big-screen theater seat or from the comfort of their own homes on Peacock,” said Jim Orr, President of Domestic Distribution, at Universal Pictures.
