Chadwick Boseman didn’t win a posthumous Oscar on Sunday, but there’s much to celebrate in the career of the prolific actor who proved that not even a cancer diagnosis could stop him from living out his dreams. In the four years after Boseman was secretly diagnosed with colon cancer, he shot “Black Panther,” and six other films culminating with his final onscreen performance in Netflix’s “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” for which he earned SAG and Golden Globe awards in the best actor category, and an Oscar nomination.

“42” (Blu-Ray)
Boseman’s first feature film role was as baseball great Jackie Robinson in “42.” The sports biopic centers around Robinson becoming the first Black major league baseball player, and the racism and discrimination that he faced along the way. The above Blu-ray package includes extended footage of the film.
“Black Panther” 4K HD (Blu-Ray)
“Black Panther” changed the course of Boseman’s career (starring in a billion-dollar franchise has that effect). The Ryan Coogler-directed superhero flick immortalized Boseman as King T’Challa in the minds of generations of fans, and became one of the most successful films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Blu-ray features an intro from Coogler, deleted scenes, bonus content, audio commentary, and more.
“Marshall” (Blu-Ray)
If there’s one thing we know about his film career, it’s that Boseman had a talent for playing real people. 2017’s “Marshall,” directed by Reginald Hudlin, is a biopic on Thurgood Marshall, the first Black Supreme Court Justice, who rose to prominence by way of the landmark 1954 civil rights case, Brown vs. the Board of Education. “Marshall” focuses on the lawyer’s first case: State of Connecticut v. Joseph Spell.
“21 Bridges” (Blu-Ray)
Boseman plays an embattled NYPD detective thrust into a citywide manhunt for two cop killers after uncovering a massive conspiracy. Soon enough, lines become blurred on who he’s actually pursuing, and who is in pursuit of him. As the search intensifies, authorities close all 21 bridges in Manhattan to stop the killers from getting away. The Blu-ray includes deleted scenes, trailers, and commentary from director Brian Kirk and editor Tim Murrell. “21 Bridges” is also streaming on Hulu and Showtime.
“Get on Up” (Blu-Ray)
“Get on Up” chronicles James Brown’s rise from poverty to surviving abandonment and abuse to become one of music’s most influential recording artists. Boseman stars as the legendary soul singer in the 2014 film directed by Tate Taylor, which details the icon’s turbulent childhood and how music became the only constructive release for his passions.
“Avengers: Endgame” (Blu-Ray)
Boseman’s first silver screen appearance as Black Panther was in 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War,” and his last was in “Avengers Endgame.” The above Blu-ray includes deleted scenes, bloopers, commentary from directors Anthony and Joe Russo, and a dedication to Stan Lee.
