Where to Watch ‘Baskets’: Hulu (The series originally aired on FX.) The “Baskets” pilot is a marvelous thing. In 27 minutes, it manages to tell the story of a whole family, even when its main character spends a decent chunk of it half a world away, studying to be a clown in the most fervent and inefficient way possible. But even as “Baskets” shows the many ups and downs in the life of Chip Baskets (Zach Galifianakis), he’s far from the only one in the title family who gets a memorable introduction....

“I’ve always pushed the envelope when it comes to action,” she told IndieWire in the above video. “This was a culmination of many years of drawing from all kinds of sources of action. Adapted from a popular memoir by the late doctor’s son, Trueba’s film overcomes its ham-fisted clumsiness because it goes a step beyond hagiography. It’s a story filtered through the eyes of a grieving son in complete awe of his father, one told with enough warmth and detail that it could be easy to forget its memories don’t belong to the filmmaker himself. That isn’t much of a surprise, as warmth and detail have been Trueba’s most consistent strengths since the Spanish filmmaker burst onto the world stage with hits like “Opera prima” (1980) and “Belle Époque” (1992)....

Bonus Reason: Per Netflix, “The Haunting of Bly Manor” is set in 1980s England and picks up after an au pair’s tragic death, when Henry Wingrave (Henry Thomas) hires a young American nanny (Victoria Pedretti) to care for his orphaned niece and nephew (Amelie Bea Smith and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) who reside at Bly Manor with the estate’s chef Owen (Rahul Kohli), groundskeeper Jamie (Amelia Eve) and housekeeper Mrs. Grose (T’Nia Miller)....

Newly announced today, Lear’s catalog of 1970s and 1980s TV series will now be made available, in their entirety, via Prime Video and IMDbTV. Rather than allow this story to unfold at the real-time pace that its premise demands, Shyamalan opts instead for a hurried (if impressively perverse) series of cheap thrills that emphasize the body horror of aging over the more profound terror of feeling the years pass by....
