By now, everyone knows that “Cyberpunk 2077” did not live up to audiences’ expectations or the publisher’s effusive marketing claims. The video game released on December 10, 2020 after numerous delays and immediately caused a public relations disaster for CD Projekt. “Cyberpunk 2077” essentially did not work on the old PlayStation and Xbox consoles — constant crashes, slowdowns, and innumerable bugs permeated every aspect of the experience. The situation wasn’t much better on the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles....

Canadian nonfiction filmmaker Frederick Kroetsch, whose previous works include series like “Queen of the Oil Patch” and films like “Last of the Fur Traders,” directs the series, which focuses on the 10 years he spent filming Edward Ellsworth Annis, a wrestler on the independent circuit known by the ring name Teddy Hart. A controversial figure known for his legal problems and his side gig as a Persian cat breeder, Hart was seen by Kroetsch as the perfect subject for a new reality show....

Like any cinematic series hoping to keep going, the final film in Leigh Janiak’s “Fear Street” trilogy sets up for plenty more thrills and chills to come. While “Fear Street Part 3: 1666” ends on a high, as Deena (Kiana Madeira), Sam (Olivia Scott Welch), Josh (Benjamin Flores Jr.), Martin (Darrell Britt-Gibson), and Constance (Gillian Jacobs) vanquish an ancient evil, clear Sarah Fier’s name (and witchy past), and seem to make some pretty big inroads toward saving their long ill-fated hometown of Shadyside, a post-credits scene threatens that peace....

Any updated adaptation of Anne Rice’s seminal debut novel “Interview with the Vampire” fundamentally has to contend with those beginnings and (potential lack of) endings. The new AMC drama series takes those ideas and treats them as invitations for exploration rather than mere prerequisites. A structural, visual, and theatrical feast, this new version of “Interview” is a timely, worthy entry to the canon, freed from the burdens of simply needing to be a refresh for a new generation....

Directed by Angus MacLane, the animated film centers on Space Ranger Buzz (Chris Evans), who sets out to save his fellow astronauts after a year of being stranded on an intergalactic planet. Keke Palmer, Dale Soules, and Taika Waititi voice a group of astronaut recruits, while Uzo Aduba, James Brolin, Mary McDonald-Lewis, Efren Ramirez, and Isiah Whitlock Jr. round out the ensemble cast. Peter Sohn also voices an adorable robo-cat named Sox, who is Buzz’s sidekick....

Today, Apple TV+ has expanded from drama, comedy, and family programming into unscripted, animation, and live sports (including Major League Baseball, Soccer, and possibly even the NFL). Its shows and movies have won the highest honors in TV and film, including Heder taking home an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay (and her film, “CODA,” winning Best Picture). Outside the entertainment sphere, an experienced leader has taken over the lease at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and any immigration discussion is as likely to touch on American citizens looking to move out as any prospective residents looking to move in....

But co-showrunner Patrick McKay says that’s not really who they had in mind when writing these short, hairy-footed friends. “I have to tell you, what we talked about was Lucy Ricardo and Ethel Mertz,” he said to IndieWire, referencing the “I Love Lucy” pals. Of course, McKay admits that he would probably also make the Frodo and Sam analogy too. It’s there for the taking. While McKay and co-showrunner JD Payne had plenty of Elf and Man and Dwarf characters to incorporate from J....

James Corden stars as Jamie, a chef whose world implodes after he discovers shocking secrets about his pregnant wife Amandine (Melia Kreiling) through sexts. Jamie enlists his brother-in-law Jeff (Colin Morgan) to help him find the truth about Amandine’s fidelity. Yet Jamie soon learns that Jeff’s marriage to his sister Lue (Sally Hawkins) is far from perfect, either. Jeff attempts to get through to Lue, but this only makes Lue descend deeper into a secret fantasy world....

Though forged in a meticulous 1930s backdrop that merges historical detail with the style and tone of that era, “Mank” is hardly a playful throwback. Fincher has made a cerebral psychodrama that rewards the engaged cinephile audience in its crosshairs, but even when cold to the touch, the movie delivers a complex and insightful look at American power structures and the potential for a creative spark to rankle their foundations....

Lovibond said during a recent Zoom interview with IndieWire that the writing of showrunner Ellen Rappaport is what initially drew her to the series. “Joyce is just such a fascinating character,” Lovibond said. “She’s so well meaning but quite flawed. Like most of Burns’ documentaries, “Muhammad Ali” is a fairly comprehensive life-to-death examination of its title character, and all the basic tenets you’d expect are there. What’s fascinating, and makes the documentary so watchable, is the various throughlines Burns posits, starting with Ali’s fighting skills. Nearly every one of Ali’s professional fights is shown, many times without any commentary outside of the live radio announcers. At several points, various talking heads will discuss why Ali was so unique as a boxer, from the way he employed dance to the way he peppered his jabs....

Published in 2005, “Never Let Me Go” is one of Ishiguro’s — a Nobel Prize-winning author also known for “The Remains of the Day” — most popular and critically acclaimed novels. Set in Britain during the ’90s, the book focuses on three childhood friends: Kathy, Tommy, and Ruth. Raised at the mysterious Hailsham boarding school, the three are clones created for the purpose of growing up healthy and donating their organs to science....

Christopher Nolan’s 12th feature film, the star-studded period piece “Oppenheimer,” debuted its teaser trailer complete with a live countdown to the July 21, 2023. The “world forever changes” thanks to the scientific invention of the atom bomb, “fathered” by Oppenheimer, played by Cillian Murphy. Known as the “father of the atomic bomb,” Oppenheimer was head of the Los Alamos Laboratory and helmed the “Manhattan Project,” which first developed nuclear weapons for World War II....

Despite its circuitous path, “Pachinko” is at least clear in the main individuals along the way. There’s Solomon Baek (Jin Ha), a young upstart employee at a giant international firm called on to help with a lucrative land deal. In a return to his hometown after studying in America, he reconnects with his father Mozasu (Soji Arai) and grandmother Sunja (Youn Yuh Jung). The Sunja we see at the present of the 1980s is the main focus of the series’ other vital half, first as a young child in Busan and then as a young woman seeing the circumstances of her life take her well beyond the walls of her family home....

The new show, debuting on Peacock on February 25, shows what Brewster is doing as a divorced mother of three and how her life changes when an orphan who reminds Punky of herself enters her life. “We shot the pilot before COVID hit, so for the pilot we were live audience,” said executive producer Jim Armogida during Peacock’s panel at the CTAM 2021 Winter Press Tour on Wednesday. The audience was filled with fans of the original show and “the energy there was unlike anything I’d ever experienced on a TV set,” he said....
